Announcing an immediate recall from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) which is effective immediately.
On November 15th, 2012 the U.S. CPSC announced a recall on American Honda portable generators. The CSPC is recalling the EU2000i Honda Portable Generator with serial numbers from EAAJ-2260273 through EAAJ-2485025. The generators being recalled are approximately 20″ long x 11.5″ wide by 16.5″ tall and come in the color red, black, or camouflage. They are also labeled with the EU Converter 2000i” sticker and some of the models have a “Companion” sticker. The serial number for your generator is located on the lower right, rear corner.
Why are they being recalled?
The EU2000i Generators are being recalled because the generator’s fuel hose can leak, creating a danger of fire or serious injury. Honda says there have been four incidents reported that they know of and they have not heard of any fires or injuries.
If you have a Honda EU2000i generator, it is advised that you check it’s serial number to see if it is part of the 150,600 generators being recalled. If your generator is part of the recall, you are advised to stop using it immediately and contact the nearest Honda Power Equipment dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.
